Gone
We’ve been assaulted repeatedly for months about all sorts
of things. Many of them are already gone, or are about to disappear, or are in
constant threat of disappearance. What are they? Well, here are a few examples.
First, Trump. His 34 felony convictions along should have
made him disappear, but they didn’t. his huge involvement with the Epstein case
and files galore should be his death knell of public service, but his
continuing creation of powers he doesn’t have is a clear misuse and abuse of
the Constitution. That alone should dismiss him from the presidency. Why it
hasn’t is a mystery only history will tell. In the meantime, we confront an
hourly story of his threatened political demise.
Mrs. Guthrie’s kidnapping and disappearance continues to
interest the public. The news reports tell a story up to the point of death. In
fact, some reports have told finding a body that matches Guthrie’s. But the
story has not been repeated since. Why? Was it a false report? Is she dead? How
likely is it that she will be found hale and hearty after two weeks of being
invisible? Not very likely, but I suppose the odds are there in favor of her
being found alive. I personally doubt it is possible but then that’s only my
opinion.
An economy with enormous energy and promise but also with
accompanying burps and bumps signaling possible failure that never appears. I think
it is the media’s way of building suspense and readership. The truth is, the economy
is always becoming something else. It is its nature and most of the time the
combination of ups and downs produces good results: jobs, economic opportunity,
growth in some sectors and ebbing in others. With a complex economy with global
interests and connections, the US economy is strong at the moment. Are there
cliff hanger situations developing? Of course there are. Always will be. It is up to individuals to interact with those
as opportunities to invest and prosper or be wrong and lose capital. The yin
and yang of markets make this so. No surprise. We await the news of who is
winning and who is losing.
Thousands of other examples are readily available. I suspect
that is why we read the news in the first place, or at least watch or hear it.
Gone or nearly gone? Stay tuned for the latest.
