Rocky Update

Caregiving is an experience with many feelings and thoughtful conclusions. However, just when you think you have the meaning right, another ramification of truth emerges. Death and dying is a complicated process. It is inevitable for each of us. Some transitions are instant while others are months long, even years. The beauty of hospice is the time given to witness the process up close and adjust to it. I doubt anyone can tell you how it will go. The experience is uniquely yours and very personal. Rocky has experienced many phases in his transition journey. At this time, he is bedridden, has a catheter and bag, no longer takes nourishment or hydration. He is on pain killers that produce a sleepy condition. He moves a bit but not with intentional meaning for others. In short, there is no communication. Touch is the last source of comfort for him, that and minimizing pain and discomfort. The process has been long and challenging for everyone, especially the caregivers. This work ...
