Division

That is the word of the day – division. Most con-men drive people apart, best if it is two parts. Argue one side over the other and keep at it until enough people gather around it. Do it long enough and a core group believes the argument. Keep at it and elections are won with the argument. Sound familiar? It should.

The Trump White House is the prime example of this manipulation of public opinion. It doesn’t take long since many people are too lazy to keep up with public events and news. Their ignorance creates the best backdrop for division and manipulation to occur. One side is so ignorant of facts that they believe in personality and support that over the logic of the facts.

To keep the division alive, con men find more topics to support the manipulation. Job loss, for example, is blamed on immigrants when in fact it is technology change or other major shifts in markets. International trade is an example of one of the latter. The COVID shutdown is another. Better yet, pretend that face masks don’t work and continue to divide over that.

The fact of the matter is very logical: the COVID shutdown forced people to continue to consume goods and services by finding other means to transact business without visiting stores. The result? Those consumers found online shopping time saving as well as money saving. They did less driving and saved gas and maintenance expenses. They learned to shop product differences online as well and then shop for the best prices. Storefronts became less useful and stores were closed. People employed there lost their jobs, but internet processing centers expanded and hired workers. Consumption dipped for a short time but then soared as millions of consumers learned new ways to shop and buy. Delivery services expanded. They bought more trucks and drivers to serve this bountiful market. Consumer infrastructure changed and supported growing markets and transactions.

Immigrants had nothing to do with these changes.

Another logical fact: unless your family is native American, you are an immigrant. Sure, you may have been born here, but your family roots are in another country. Even our founding fathers were immigrants.

Divide and conquer. Wage personal attacks. Avoid logic and historical facts. Manipulate emotions and gather converts too ignorant to believe facts. That’s the Trump administration. That’s MAGA. Read it and weep, folks. We allowed this to happen all while many of us thought the public too smart to fall for it. We were wrong. Dumb has power it seems. Eliminating educational standards is how they intend to keep the con going forward. We cannot let that happen.

Read. Learn. Relate all with logic. Vote intelligently. Help others do the same. Expand to win elections. Move the ignorant to the margins until they learn enough to survive.

The power of the nation belongs with her people, not the elected. Remember that. Power comes from us. Let we the people author a vibrant future by using our power.
