Governance Operations, Democracy

We the People is the core of Governance, whether federal, regional, state or municipality. It is we who authorize the creation of government in the first place. All power begins with us – We the People. Without that, no system of governance exists. Yes, it is that simple.

Operating the governance system is another matter, and a complex one at that.

Not only is the design difficult to come up with, but making it work at many levels simultaneously is tricky. Our Founding Fathers in the late 1700’s struggled with this. Amazingly, they succeeded. Yes, their document was incomplete. They worked to amend it several times, the Bill of Rights the first example. It embraces the first 10 amendments to the US Constitution, including the several freedoms we know and love. Freedom of Speech is one, Freedom of Assembly is another, Freedom from Religious constraints created by government is yet another. The Right to Bear Arms is another of those freedoms.

Proof of the Constitution’s success is that is has remained a central piece of wisdom and authority for 250 years. It is studied the world over for what makes it stable and lasting. The three branches of government, each interdependent on the others, is a staple of the Constitution’s strength. So successful is this design, that state and municipal governments have followed its design throughout the nation. They too are stable government entities.

Until now. The MAGA and Trump values have attacked the Constitution while swearing an oath to it and its protection. They have attacked the base of our governance by overwhelming the system with untold court filings, and challenges. Each takes time to process and adjudicate. Each effects and connects to other cases and principles, and the entire system is embroiled in complexity and competing claims. They knew this. This has been a hallmark of Trump’s business life for decades. He has won some cases but lost many others. While all have simmered in the system at the same time, he has gained traction on key business opportunities while they are often judged negatively eventually.

In the court of public opinion, such shenanigans have expanded exponentially. More damage is done to the public’s faith and credit in all forms of government.

We can see the workings of municipal government fairly clearly. It is up close and personal in our lives. We often are participants in that governance system and understand its workings. Same with county and other regional forms of governance. State government is more distant and complex, but it fits well with federal authorities and as a result we can know it well. But if we have less faith and credit in national and state government operations, we are likely to feel the same in all levels of government.  A weakening of public authority is the result. We the People are less a focus while rouges control actions and public airways.

If trust and faith in our national identity is to be restored through faith and credit in our governance, We the People must return to empower the restoration itself. Are you ready to participate in this effort?

Now is the hour for it to be done.
