Turning Tide Interrupted

Ugly. The times we are living in. Deeply disturbing and ugly. But is there a bit of a change for the better? A glimmer of hope? A change? Anything that gives us hope? A turning of the tide?

We all see what we will. Sometimes it is imagined. Sometimes it is real, very real. So, what are we experiencing now?

Hard to say for certain, but it appears that Trump is having a hard time. Too many people here at home and across the oceans see him for what he is. Yes, he has his supporters, but their number is dwindling. That alone is proof the tide is turning.

But is that enough? No. More must be done to see the tide turning for sure and for a long time to come. Afterall, tides go out and come in twice per day. No, we are hoping for a more permanent change for the better.

Meanwhile we do see these shifts:

·         Court case decisions more in line against Trump’s positions

·         Faster responses from judges

·         Tens of millions of citizens showing up for public protests against Trump and MAGA

·         Hostility of military parade personnel reacting to roles they normally do not perform

·         Military parade a colossal flop

·         Public media does not unilaterally support Trump

As issues arise and Trump is challenged with negative support, he shifts to odd and surprising actions. These divert attention from other issues he is sensitive about. And so, a continuing array of newsworthy activity is placed before the public.

A key activity is Saturday’s (6/21/25) attack on Iran coordinated with Israel’s military. Shocking. Act of war without Congressional involvement. No clear constitutional authority present for this action. A multiplicity of issues raised that dwarf the previous contentious issues. Suddenly the nation is confronted with another, huge issue to digest.

Diversion and distraction. Unconventional concerns over large and small issues. All have constitutional connections, or not. It is the not part that is most concerning.

All of the above tells the nation that an unstable individual occupies the White House and should be subject to Congressional controls. If not, it is time to consider his removal or temporary suspension of powers. The constitution provides for such. This appears to be the moment to implement them to save the nation and preserve global order.
