Pressure Washing

Yes. Lawn mowing videos. Water drainage videos. And now, pressure washing. Fascinating. All tasks needed to be done. All routine. All physical. All motion based.

As dirt cascades from flat surfaces outdoors, bright clean tomorrows beckon.

Satisfying, this work. Quieting, calming. Soothing lives ruffled by other happenings.

Neat and tidy we can make the world around us. The size of that world is tiny, of course, but it is our world. We neaten it. We can clean it. We can appreciate it up close and personal. So much of the world is beyond such control.

Especially when that control has ends we don’t agree with or even understand. Making something great is exciting. The unmaking it appears to be also exciting. But which is preferred? And by whom?

Pressure washing is not the topic here. Nor lawn mowing. Or finding ways to drain excess water from places we don’t want to be awash. No. the topic is order itself.

Perhaps that is why the current administration in the USA is such a bother. Order is specifically under attack on many fronts. Most of us want order to return.

The question needs to be asked, however, why the disorder? What is it replacing? The reason for destruction is what?

Small government versus large? Any government at all? A limit to individual power and decisions? Is that what this is all about?

Our nation carved out its place over 250 years ago. From diverse sources and mindsets, our nation created a way of life. Government was the means to that end. Government fought the wars. Government created the tools that made an ordered commercial system. Banking and money were part of that creation. Trading among nations was part of that system. International relationships were specifically included as a government function.

And then government assistance generally formed over many decades to help individuals and classes of individuals exist and prosper. Regulations became a part of government. Education was supported to grow a nation of informed and intelligent people. A citizenry knowledgeable of itself and possibilities. This was a nation of futures created by its own citizens, for its citizens and for the communities beyond our borders.

Not all came at once. Not all meant then what it has become. We are a nation of influence on the rest of the global community. That influence has mainly been good for others, but not always. We have had missteps. We have slowly adapted to larger notions eventually. But the primary achievement has been awareness of a world larger than us. A community within the global expanse that needs peace to prosper. It needs health to survive. It needs education to create. It needs cooperation to thrive with one another across borders.

Power washing, lawn mowing and drainage physics are routines and duties to perform. They are orderly. All the rest is not. Greatness requires sacrifice and cooperation. Compromise. Generosity of spirit and wealth.

We have been great in the past. We have the capacity to be great each day. We do not need tariffs and international insults to be great.

Time now to recover what we have lost in recent months. Each of us can rise, be counted, and perform the duties needed done. Restore neat and tidy in government. Please.
