Lies and Pressers
I finally figured out that the more press conferences the White House holds the more lies are delivered to public air ways. The baldness of these actions is breathtaking. So very obvious.
The presentations of bloggers and vloggers create the
statements the White House wishes to counter. To do that, pressers are held
quickly, even more frequent than daily. Amazing when you realize some White
House administrations rarely held pressers as often as once a month.
The material shared at Trump’s pressers is the baldest of
all. Simply untrue statements. Counter to facts or history – long or short term
– that mirror the statements and story lines they wish to refute. Predictable. We
could even write the scripts of them they are so predictable.
The art of distraction is on full view. So are artful dodges
and intended miscues. It is clear the White House staffers have a long view
plan and script of their own. They continually push it forward. The cohesiveness
gives proof to the lie itself – Project 2025 is in full swing and fully staffed.
Trump’s public statements are only part of the whole scene. Increasingly,
his role isn’t even needed. Actions taken by the White House are. Agency heads
and DOGE statements also drive related press conferences.
The Press Secretary pokes at reporters for not asking the
right questions and then researching the answers. In fact, reporters are asking
the right questions and asking for proof of the answers provided by the White
House. If charges are made by the President or agency heads, where is the proof
that their claims are documented and fully investigated? Where is the process
they used to come up with their statements of wrongdoing leading to the firing,
removal from office or deportation? It is not the sole job of the press corps
to research all of history or current events. It is up to the makers of policy
to prove their point. So far, they provide only empty, open statements as if
they are factual. They are not.
Besides that, when the press corps does dive into research,
they are stymied at every step by the very people being studied. Facts are
hidden from view. Policy statements are mere political campaign rhetoric
reissued as policy. That is not how it should work.
Weaponization of government is in full force with MAGA. Universities
are punished by withdrawing research
grant funding regardless of the subject matter involved. Research on cancer,
technology and a host of other specialties are orphaned. To what end? Mere
financial punishment of the institution? Or might this be a perverted opening
for private businesses to pursue as research contracts. You do know that
Universities are prime researchers precisely because private parties do not
want to take on the risk of funding research which may not produce desired
results? That is why government funding is provided in the first place.
And the point needs to be made that research progresses in
tiny stages accumulating knowledge and bits and pieces until they are connected
to others yet unknown. It takes years of accumulating the knowledge base and
the research talent and structure to make progress. This is painstaking work
and requires long term investment. That is what universities do. Corporations hate
doing these enormous, open-ended projects. They rely on university research projects
to feed them the important discoveries they seek. And need. Without the huge
investment in the research itself.
We need to always ask why the White House says what it says,
and why staff support the statements without proof of factual content. Therein lies
the lie.
Know this and resist.
