Current Events

Ugh! Double Ugh!!

Regular readers will know that I predicted Trump’s chaos method. It is in his DNA to mess things up intentionally and thus distract people. He asserts a point of view, an opinion, and acts on it. Often, the action is illegal; so is the thought behind it. That doesn't matter. The distraction is in motion.

All throughout his lifetime Donald Trump has controlled the playing table by bold moves and assertions. When results are not to his liking – or more often, not profitable – he simply does not follow through on his promises. He balks. He ignores. He leaves others holding the bag. He even refuses to pay what he owes. These moves have forced him into bankruptcies four times. Huge bankruptcies with costs borne by others, not him. Yet, he retained enough capital to live as though nothing bad had happened. He continued to lead the good life.

Lawsuits are a way of life for Donald. He avers a position, hires a lawyer, files a suit and then lollygags along stretching out the legal actions for months if not years. All of this costs a great deal of money for others, not the Donald. He usually sidesteps legal costs or avoids them for years.

The result is others tend to avoid doing business with him unless they feel certain they will make enough money to soothe the Trump Troubles. Chaos to bring confusion and addled thinking of opponents, then lawsuits to obfuscate or scare away negative actions. It has worked surprisingly well for him. Not so well for others involved.

And I predicted he would do the same as president. And he has. In spades.

What does this tell us how to respond to these circumstances? Beat him at his own game. We The People have more people, more expertise, and more money than he does. Let’s sue the pants off him and tie him up in court for years. Maybe he will end up in jail, although I doubt that will happen. Besides, he is old enough to escape such penalties through natural death.

Let’s face some serious facts:

First, Donald is not a thinker or academic. He is weak in this department. Others are doing his thinking for him. Search for those parties in the Republican Party infrastructure.

Second, Donald gained his power by claiming he would play the game of conservatives. These political activists have been common agitators and delayers in government circles for years. But they have never quite accomplished what they set out to do.

Third, if Trump gains anything personally, it won’t last long. He will die in his 80’s and not wield power at all if won. Someone else will do that and we need to identify the likely candidates for that position.

Fourth, money is not the goal for Trump, only power and influence. He wants to be a person of historical importance. So far, his history is chaos and failure. He even lies about how much money he is worth but fails to calculate the net of his assets less debt. Worse, he lies about the fault of failures and takes credit for the successes achieved by others. Amazing and totally dishonest. How can anyone trust him?

Fifth, every bit of trouble he causes can be answered with an opposite action mostly in the court system.

It is time we enabled this strategy and got to work. Now.
