Rocky Update

Actually, this is an update about both Rocky and George.

Caregiving for family members is a 24/7 proposition. It is tiring to be on call around the clock whether you have help with it or not. So, warning signs of exhaustion for George caused the hospice staff to recommend respite for George. That requires the patient, Rocky, to be moved to a nursing facility for five nights. That gives home caregivers a break of 5 days and nights.

The suggestion was accepted. Rocky left today, Friday, June 2nd, for a return to The Grove nursiing home in St. Charles. His room is 405, just a few doors down from the room he occupied 3 months ago.

That's right, Rocky has been in hospice just short of 3 full months. That was after 6 weeks in nursing home and three weeks in hospital. This journey has traveled nonstop from January 14th until now, and still counting.

George promises to sleep, rest, and often do nothing whatsoever. He will also take some drives and eat out a few times, just to do the things he hasn't been able to do for so many months. Respite. Yes.

Then, Rocky will return home on Wednesday, June 7th as scheduled.

May peace be in place for both of these two souls.
