Pondering

Looking for the bright side of things is much preferred than the dark side. More pleasure comes from pondering brighter outcomes based on championing failures and turning them to the good. Such is possible because the wreckage of failure provides valuable bits and pieces that can be used for the good.

Yes, this is the ‘glass half full versus the glass half empty’ argument. Viewing the world with a positive attitude helps make good things happen. The reason for this has been debated throughout man’s history on this planet. For me the reason is simply put: Good helps imagine the better or best outcome. Once that is done, it is easier to implement what is needed to move from today to the future with better outcomes.

Ponder that for a bit. If we know where we are headed, we get there with more certainty. We may even find the shortest route. We look for signs of the destination along the journey to boost our morale and energy. And focus.

The opposite is also true. If we don’t know where we are headed, we don’t really know our objective.

It is easy to get caught up in daily routines. As long as we are busy, we feel useful and content. At the very least we think of ourselves as not wasting time and other resources. But we are wasting those very things if we don’t have the final objective in mind.

Knowing who and what we are about, focuses our attention on achieving desired results. We work harder to make that happen. We are clear on the objective and do not allow distractions from wasting time, energy and other resources. The more we do, the more we accomplish. With those accomplishments we are more certain to reach the destination successfully.

Focusing on the half empty attitude only drains energy and focus. We are apt to spend eternity in an addled reality.

Might this be where we are today as a society? Do we truly know who we are? Do we know what our endgame is, or destination? Do we fully imagine the outcomes we are straining toward?

If not, find those who are positive. Find those organizations – gatherings, businesses, corporations, universities, colleges and governments – who do know where they are headed. Ignore the vapid naysayers. Avoid the self-centered boobs who waste our time and resources.

Focus on the objective. Be certain what that is.

I suspect American Society needs some mighty serious pondering. Although we have and do hold much promise, our history demonstrates what happens when we lose our way. Let us not repeat history. Let’s use our positive energy to achieve worthwhile outcomes.

Yes. We can do that. We have done it before. Just keep on that road to a brilliant future.
