Pie in the Sky, Or?

Looking out the window. Observing a cloudless sky. Blue. Deep blue and deepening. Trees, green and billowy. Moving slightly in the early morning breeze. Gentle day aborning. The promise of good moments, maybe hours ahead.

Life challenges beg attention. Relationships, too, require tending, nurturing. Time is spent on many of these each day, some simultaneously. We settle some things, solve others, yet remain challenged by so many remaining.

We talk of them. With others. Some are friends and family. Sharing the mysteries and problems for support. But also inputs for crafting solutions. Just meandering thoughts. Maybe some of them will be the answer.

Searching for answers. Connecting with others who know more about the specific issue under study. Reading. Researching. Writing and testing understandings of the problem. What we know and what we don’t know. Often more important, crystalizing what it is we don’t know. That sparks more research. More exploration. Discovery comes from the looking. Then the testing for fit and appropriateness.

A small group discusses the findings. Together they pull together some conclusions about meaning of content, and accuracy of answers posed for future work and development. Group work. Common thinking about uncommon things. Pushing back boundaries of knowledge, impact, relevance. Does logic support the conclusions? Are the conclusions applicable to current needs? Are they stretching too far, inappropriate, or what?

Together we move forward inch by inch. We collaborate and test each other. Not a debate, an erstwhile confabulation of effort, thinking, wonderment, curiosity, research, fact finding and application. Together we build bits and pieces of the future. From that mankind has accomplished much.

What is valued and what works? We don’t know unless we try. The trying proves both positives and negatives. The struggle still gains traction and progress. Toward an end fully thought out? Is it of lasting value to most people? Does it harm anyone? Do we implement the creation we have worked out?

Time will tell. Meanwhile, we continue to collaborate to make better somethings. Life? Liberty? Pursuit of Happiness? Justice? Education? Healthcare?

Just what are we working toward? The vision is not from one person but an assembly of others. It is a social construct not a singular achievement. We work together to achieve better results.

Pie in the sky. Thank God we have so many good souls doing this work.
