Order from Chaos

I will say it again and again, while public media touts the horrors of the day continually, the rest of us are going about our business. Some of that business is actual commercial business, while others engage in nonprofit, community-oriented business. Still others are consumed with household chores, family needs, and the love of and for pets.

You know, the routines of life we all know. As wars wage, peace struggles, and woes faced, we still build, make, cook, ponder, create and engage the arts. So many things to do. So much needed by others.

There is an army of souls who do the community projects and good works. There are platoons of volunteers for each project. There are those who donate the goods and the money to make those volunteers productive with needed materials and equipment. Yes, the world of good continues. We are blessed.

Often, I wonder how each of us makes a difference in life. How each of us carry on despite wars, inflation, economic turmoil, and supply chain interruptions? We do carry on, don’t we? We just get up in the morning and do what is needed to be done.

My corner of the SCORE world is nonprofits. These clients amaze me over and over again. They see a need and want to repair it. They are committed to lessening human suffering. They spend countless hours laboring to ease a continual supply of problems. Doing this on a larger scale, through organizations and social movements, takes grit and determination. Helpful hands guide them, generous people fund them, and talented volunteers donate their time and talents to the cause.

These people see the good of their work. This calms them. The worries of the world are pushed back a little at a time, and in the long run, they truly have helped push those huge negatives back.

I have faith these people will continue their work. And when one falls down, others will step forward. I witness this all the time. I see it every day.

It is trying that matters. Through that effort others in need feel the effort. Once again, we come together as a social family. It matters to be human. It matters to be engaged.

You matter. We matter.
