Making Do

As age advances, mobility decreases. As mobility decreases, weight increases. Diet restrictions will balance weight with mobility if done with discipline. If not, the doctor and family tsk tsk a lot!

Walking used to be a vigorous activity and pleasurable. Today, shopping becomes a workout to keep moving; same with moving about the apartment for daily tasks like getting to and from the bathroom, turning on lights, opening or closing drapes. You know, the movements of daily living. Now they are a fitness regime.

Like money, too; fewer dollars mean restricted purchasing. We learn to live with what we have. We get by. We make do.

A second trump regime promises to be chaotic and challenging. His mandate does not exist. The votes only amounted to a colossal electoral college result, but not the popular vote. He did not garner a majority of votes cast. The claims he makes on authority from a mandate do not exist. Every decision and executive order can be fought. The success of the people’s position is not guaranteed, but a court case will likely fall in their favor. The conservative victory doesn’t exist and won’t for the most part.

To see this come to be, we the people must press forward with discussion, print articles, speech making, and lawsuits. We must be prepared and willing to make action speak for us. It takes work and discipline. But we can do it. We must do it.

This is the way forward. This is we the people making do in a difficult time. We have been here before. Not quite as challenging as before, but nasty business just the same.

Let’s be clear, the trump program benefits few people. Only the rich and corporations. Despite a narrow Supreme Court decision making corporations people politically so they can dump money on candidates, they are not legally persons. The court know this. It will be challenged and won for the people.

Tax cuts for the poor and middleclass amount to a pittance. Tax cuts for the rich and corporations are big for them and costly for the rest of us. Trump’s last cut produced a budget deficit of one trillion dollars yet to be paid for. The money to the corporations and wealthy did not produce the results of increased productivity, innovation and massive economic activity. And it likely won’t. No, those results come when the middle class is earning more money, spending it through consumption and attracts investments in, by and for the corporations. That’s how to stimulate economic activity, especially activity that produces balanced incomes, tax receipts and managed debt. This is how we make money. This is how we afford national debt. This is us making do.

Do not give up. Stay the course and resist the crap of what trump and company are attempting to do. It is our country to save. There are more of us than them, so just do it.

Make do.
