Feeling Good
·
Health: Hospitalization while on vacation
spoils a trip in a hurry. Now back home, my health is good, stable and the
doctors are pleased with my progress. Safety and wellness go together, and I am
quite at ease these days. That’s a good thing and I am very aware of it. Another
blessing to count on in life. Good health is the basis of a happy life. That is
clearer to me than ever before.

Summertime: Aah, warmer weather has
arrived. Summer months are my favorite time of year. I love awakening and
knowing there will be no snow outside the window. I like knowing the breezes
will gentle and warm, not cold and blustery. I can accept some rain to keep
things green. I generally have not known floods in summer. Those have often
been threatened most in spring and winter thaws. There is always a chance for a
summer storm but normally it is not tornadic. Those come in spring and fall
when great air masses slam into each other with vastly different temperatures
and moisture. I think of summer as picnic time and rides in the country. Such a
joyous time of year.

Family Close: Many years ago Rocky and I had
planned to retire to New Mexico or Arizona. High deserts mostly. Warm to hot
weather, mild winters. And artist communities, too. We shopped for medical
facilities and doctors in our areas of concern. Found little and realized we
had it very good in Chicagoland. Then my altitude problems surfaced and it was
suggested we remain at lower elevations.
Soon we realized that staying near
our kids and grandkids was important, too. Although Rocky didn’t get too much
of this before he died, I’m benefiting from nearness to family these days. My recent
travel problems due to health is a case in point. My daughter accompanied us on
our trip, her husband joined us a few days later, and when I landed in the
hospital, they managed to convince the doctors to release me for a quick drive
back to Chicago. They took great care of me and I realized just how special
that is.
